Coloured Acrylic Sheets

Acrylic sheets are made from synthetic polymer known as Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA), commonly referred to as Acrylic, Perspex and Plexiglass.

Key Features

  • 100% Optical Clarity
  • Lightweight depending on thickness, significantly lighter than glass.
  • Impact resistance less likely to shatter upon impact than glass.
  • Customizable – cut, CNC routed, laser cut, bent, engraved and etched.
  • Multiple colour, tint, and transparency options
  • Weather resistance – excellent and UV stable, suitable for outdoor applications
  • Chemical resistance – resistant to most chemicals and solvents which make suitable for laboratory equipment, chemical storage containers and applications where exposure is concern.
  • Thermal insulation – maintain consistent temperatures. Used in double-glazing windows to improve energy efficiency and reduce heat loss.
  • Low water absorption – suitable for damp or humid environments
  • Expansion and contraction with heat and cold

Versatile Applications

  • Acrylic windows and skylights are both lightweight and durable and can be used as an alternative to glass, integrated both indoors and outdoors. Acrylic windows are most effective when used for double glazing which helps regulate temperatures inside, containing heat in winter and cool air in summer and can reduce outside noise up to 70%. Whilst acrylic skylights allow natural light to filter into different spaces, with varying degrees of light diffusion.
  • Clear acrylic can also help to meet pool fencing compliance blocking footholds or climbing concerns to ensure compliance within safety regulations. Additionally, some pools incorporate acrylic viewing panels to allow people to observe underwater activities, enhancing safety monitoring while adding an intriguing feature to the pool.
  • Acrylic is great alternative for boat windows offering excellent optical clarity, ensuring clear visibility and is highly durable and resistant to weathering through UV rays, and saltwater exposure.
  • Acrylic’s clarity, durability, and adaptability make it an ideal choice for aquariums, especially in custom or large setups where its advantages shine like at the Melbourne Aquarium where they use 50mm thick clear acrylic. This ensures better insulation and safety for visitors, able to maintain stable temperatures and is simple to clean and maintain.
  • Acrylic is crucial for use of medical and laboratory equipment due to its chemical resistance, transparency, and durability. Acrylic is used to produce test tubes, protective barriers, and specimen containers.
  • Acrylic stands out for its clarity and versatility, particularly in floating picture frames and wall-mounted displays. Its transparent cover not only preserves artwork or puzzles but also shields them from potential UV damage, dust, or physical harm. By utilizing a clear acrylic panel, it’s possible to achieve a seamless “floating” effect. Acrylic wall-mounted displays are commonly seen throughout offices, museums, parks, and retail spaces displaying information, artwork, maps and even food menus.
  • Acrylic screens can be used as dividers or focus points throughout spaces with both clear, coloured or frosted options offering privacy and permitting the diffusion of light in various areas. Perfect for inside or outside use with all our acrylic being UV stable.

Acrylic has also become a popular option for interior design throughout kitchens, laundries, bathrooms and outdoor areas.

  • Throughout kitchens, coloured acrylic backsplashes have become popular due to their clean and modern look whilst being both durable and resistant to moisture. Although acrylic should not be used in hot areas like behind cooktops or stoves.
  • In bathrooms, the use of frosted acrylic for partitions and shower screens allowing for privacy whilst letting natural light to filter through, creating both visually appealing and functional space.
  • Acrylic tabletops present a flexible substitute for traditional glass introducing a pop of colour or maintain a diamond-clear finish which is more impact-resistant and less prone to shattering, making it a practical choice for busy households especially those with children.

Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.

Avoid Scratches: Handle acrylic with care to prevent scratches. Use clean, soft cloths when wiping or cleaning to avoid abrasive particles causing scratches. Never use rough materials like scouring pads or rough sponges for cleaning.
